TorinoFilmLab is an international laboratory that supports talented authors and professionals from all over the world, through several activities and forms of support in the fields of audiovisual training and development plus production & distribution funds.
Created in 2008, TorinoFilmLab is organised by Museo Nazionale del Cinema and supported by Creative Europe – MEDIA sub-programme of the European Union, Ministero della Cultura, Regione Piemonte and Città di Torino.
TFL is linked to Torino Film Festival and to the main film institutions established in Turin and Piedmont.
TFL CLASSICS – 3 annual programmes for a complete set-up
ScriptLab
Flagship TFL screenwriting programme open to writer/directors developing a script for a feature film, as well as story editors. Starting at an early stage of development, by the end of the 8-month process projects turn into a first or second draft of the script thanks to the guidance of experienced tutor and paired with a Story Editor trainee, that work in close collaboration with the author to help them find the core of their story.
FeatureLab
Annual programme for creative teams working on the director’s 1st or 2nd feature film projects, at an advanced development stage. During a path including 3 workshops and a public presentation, the selected teams work with experts from the fields of directing, cinematography, sound, post-production, but also from production, financing, marketing & sales, and audience engagement.
SeriesLab
A programme fully dedicated to fiction TV series projects at an early development stage. Aimed at professional scriptwriters and directors wishing to develop innovative and high-profile international TV series projects through the creation of the concept: from generating ideas and structuring the material, up to a final pitch in front of major key players during a TV industry event.

Carefully crafted residential workshops offering the TFL pedagogical expertise in a concentrated formula to the largest possible audience of film professionals from all over the world, that can benefit from an immediate training, as well as tailor-made workshops and lectures on-demand for partner organizations.
TFL Next
A fully online-based experience that aims at empowering a new generation of agile-thinking filmmakers, who are ready to immerse themselves in a global scenario by sharing and testing ideas with peers and high-level international tutors through intensive workshops on multiple topics, across the year.
TFL FUNDS – customised sessions and funding support for international co-productions
Co-Production Fund
Tailor-made consultancies and an award of 50.000 € to bolster the realisation of feature films by experienced filmmakers, involving European and non-European production companies.
Audience Design Fund
Distribution support addressed to European producers and sales agents working on internationally co-produced feature films. Three grants of 45.000 € plus dedicated sessions with TFL Audience Designers lead the teams through the creation of innovative promotional strategies to reach the film's audiences.
The TFL Funds have been created thanks to Creative Europe – MEDIA sub-programme support to International Co-Production Funds.
SPECIAL PROGRAMMES
Alpi Film Lab
Our Italian-French initiative realised together with Annecy Cinéma Italien to enhance the cross-border film industry. Alpi Film Lab workshops take place in the Alpine region from side to side, between Turin and Annecy, bringing Italian and French emerging producers to experience a simulated international co-production while developing feature film projects.
Green Film Lab
How to produce in a sustainable way? Green Film Lab - realised together with Green Film - aims at training European film professionals, with our without a project, on green practices in film production and on how to apply a green protocol and get a certification. Multiple workshops take place throughout the year across Europe with different partners.
Red Sea Lodge
Red Sea Lodge nurtures the next generation of filmmakers from Saudi and the Arab world - working on a feature film project - with the ultimate goal of giving voice to untold stories. This long-term intensive programme comes to an end with a residential workshop during the Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah.
TFL MEETING EVENT
The TFL Meeting Event is the annual showcase of the projects, talents and films developed at TorinoFilmLab, featuring an international co-production forum for independent original or adapted feature films, and a presentation of the professionals trained within the scheme, icing on the cake.
ScriptLab and FeatureLab reach their climax at the TFL Meeting Event in November, when participants pitch their projects to an audience of carefully selected international producers, sales agents and other film industry professionals, interested in collaborating with them.
On this occasion, the TorinoFilmLab Jury assigns a number of TFL Production Awards to the best projects coming from the FeatureLab programme and, thanks to its partners, award a variety of collateral prizes backing the further development, the production or post-production of projects coming from different TFL programmes.
